Support and maintenance

Assign an owner for the workstation configuration and a separate operational owner for RA procedures. Record how approved software packages, drivers and consumables are obtained and maintained.

Printing is intermittent Inspect power, cabling, USB topology and maintenance condition.

This is a diagnostic triage model, not a definitive mapping from symptoms to causes. Use NHS printer troubleshooting and the CIS support route for current escalation instructions. SRC-017, SRC-018

NHS recommends consistent USB connections, suitable supplied cables and avoiding overloaded docking stations. Its care guidance suggests cleaning as regularly as every three months. Check the exact printer's warranty and service arrangement; supplier-specific terms are not universal. SRC-003

For updates, use the manufacturer's model or serial lookup and the current NHS guidance. Re-run affected acceptance tests after a driver, middleware, browser or gateway change. SRC-014

Operational controls to agree locally

  • Keep an approved baseline and a rollback plan.
  • Test replacement equipment before relying on it operationally.
  • Use the agreed RA procedure for failed or partially completed issuance.
  • Retain a sanitised fault record with versions, timestamps and the failing stage.
  • Plan consumables, maintenance cover and an alternative issuance route.

These are local design recommendations. See requirements for their status.
